He Wānanga Waiora

He Wānanga Waiora

He Wānanga Waiora is a workshop series focusing on mental health and wellbeing, tailored for service providers working with youth in the Western Bay of Plenty (WBOP) area. Since its inception in May 2021, these workshops have become the place for the exchange of knowledge and best practices in adolescent mental health. Conducted every eight weeks in partnership with the BOPDHB Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services, each session draws approximately 60-80 practitioners, creating a collaborative learning environment.

The programme invites expert guest speakers to address a range of mental health topics pertinent to youth, enriching the participants’ capacity for effective service delivery. It emphasises enhancing the practical skills that service providers need to support the youth effectively. The initiative goes beyond education by allowing service providers to present and share their own services, principles, and resources at the end of each session. This not only strengthens the network of services within the Bay of Plenty but also promotes a cohesive approach to youth mental health and wellbeing across the region.
